As an Admin I should do this more often :>( alas times a change and folks move on! MY RECOMMENDATION would be snap up the Serif photoPlus X8 if it's reduced enough say £20.00. I shall check back if I remember to see if you have made any decisions. I am a sucker for Facebook and that takes up a load of time that Flickr used to have sole use of. When I retire in 10 or so years I may well sit down and grasp what Affinity has to offer I know for a fact that the zoom quality is amazing -especially in the Designer version - I think we had a thread on here about it a few years ago, which may not be that far back actually because we very seldom come here anymore.

I have not really had time to get used to using Affinity (either the Designer or the Photo, ) let alone the new beta Affinity Publisher, because for the little that I need regarding photo manipulation at the moment, it's way simpler for me to just jump into Windows from my Mac using Parallels and click open PhotoPlus X8, because I know the software since PhP2 or 3 and have grown up with each release.

I bought into the Affinity Range straight away, because my main computers are all Macs nowadays, but Serif really did not miss a trick this time by actually devising a windows version (I was screaming at them for years to do a Mac version of the Serif Plus range) and for all in Tents with Porpoises Affinity is whooping Adobe Pah! right outta the water nowadays. I have PhotoPlus X8 and use it all the time along with DrawPlus X8, alas, this Serif Range seems to have been given the old heave ho now - but I recently snapped up PagePlus X9 so always say you don't know. My interest in photography started by accident really, when I started using photography alongside my creative writing ventures. This HNC is very business orientated though, so will be doing a lot more portraits this year. not a chance! I do take occasional portraits, but essentially it’s landscapes and macro photography that I like. Yea I enjoy LR better than PS, not planning on working as a wedding photographer or working with families. If you are going to be a photographer, portraits, families, weddings etc, you will need Lightroom. Thank you very much for taking time to help?Īlthough I have both LR and PS, I use LR probably over 99% of the time, I find it invaluable for raw files, I tended to take 50 or more group shots at a time with the same lighting, often flash and it was wonderful for spending 15 minutes adjusting one image and then synchronising across the other 49 in 20 seconds! With regards to the Photoplus X8, I’ve seen it direct from Serif and Amazon for about £20 quid, there are also the user guide paperback books floating around for a few quid. I learn better with a combo of print and pictures. Will most likely go for the Infinity photo and the new workbook, which looks really nice.

If I need the full versions, I have access to Macs in college. I honestly couldn’t justify it whilst in full time education. I only require pretty basic editing (camera RAW or similar) if I am being honest, the full versions of both LR/PS would be over the top for me right now. Harry® Yes they do, but I won’t buy into this “CC” pay monthly nonsense. I have the last stand-alone versions of LR/PS, I don't like the concept of renting. I don't use either but I have read very good reports on Affinity Photo. Hi, new to group, is Photoplus x8 still worth buying? Or are all you photographers onto the Affinity Photo now? I am studying Photography at college, and don’t want to purchase LR/PS!
